Governor Roy Cooper must be the luckiest man on earth. Despite his record setting vetoes, the Legislature managed to override many of his vetoes. This has enabled North Carolina to be in the top three states in the country for the best place to live, start a business, tax climate, etc. The Legislature has had Republican majorities for all the Governors’ tenure. For much of his term, there have been super majorities, in both the House and Senate, which has enabled these great pieces of Legislation to become law. The Governor was an obstacle that had to be overcome. The Governor gets credit however, from many sources, because he is the chief executive. That’s just how it works. Now there is talk of him becoming the Vice-Presidential nominee on the Democrat ticket. Go figure.
Americans are migrating from blue states to red states in record numbers. According to U-Haul, movers preferred destinations in the southeast and southwest regions of the country. Texas was the most popular state for migration for the second straight year and the sixth time in eight years. Florida came in at number two and North Carolina rounded out the top three.
The Colorado Supreme Court recently made a controversial decision to remove Former President Trump from the states’ ballot. An appeal was filed to the U.S. Supreme Court and the Court agreed to hear the case within hours. Many think the Colorado court overstepped its bounds and President Trump will win the case.
Democrat mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, is suing 17 bus companies for transporting illegal immigrants to New York City from Texas. Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, responded “Democrats in Chicago and New York are waking up to the reality that open border policies are failed policies. Texas began busing migrants to sanctuary cities to relieve our overwhelmed border towns. We’ll continue to do so until Biden secures the border.” The Governor also said that Mayor Adams should be suing the Biden administration instead of the bus companies.
The Department of Justice is suing Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, over SB4 recently signed into law. This bill allows law enforcement to arrest people who enter illegally. When Governor Abbott learned of the suit, he said, “Biden sued me today because I signed a law making it illegal for an illegal immigrant to enter or attempt to enter Texas directly from a foreign nation.” Border states have been overwhelmed for years. They’re trying to fight back with every weapon they can find.
For the first time in history, a California male, has stolen a four-year Division I scholarship from a woman who deserved it. There have been other cases of biological males taking a title or a woman’s spot on a team, but this is the first known loss of a scholarship that should have gone to a deserving woman. If this trend can continue, it will eventually destroy women’s sports. That’s most unfortunate for women who work hard training most of their lives to win scholarships.
Anthony Fauci will be testifying before a Congressional Committee today, January 8. He has been caught lying about the research done at the Wuhan lab. After spreading rumors that the Covid virus came from a “wet market” in China and was transferred by bats, it has been confirmed that it came from the Wuhan lab. It has been now learned that Fauci’s agency has been funding “gain of function” research at the Wuhan lab. Previously, he adamantly denied these allegations. He has ducked and dodged in committee hearings before. It will be interesting to see how he answers tough questions this time.
