Open The Border… Just Not In My Backyard

You’ve heard the saying, “Be careful what you wish for.” Sanctuary cities around the country are now paying a price for advocating that they are a welcoming city for everyone. It was all for show. They are no such thing when it happens in their community.

I’m referring to the millions of illegals who have crossed over our border since President Biden took office. Some accounts estimate 4-5 million, while others estimate more than 7 million. By the way, this doesn’t include the ones who got away. These numbers only reflect those that we have released into the country.

New York City hospitals are being overrun by the influx. It appears that illegals are taking priority over actual residents. Citizens are complaining that they are having to wait months to get in to see health care providers. Apparently, whether talking about housing, food, clothing, medical care and other services, the migrants are sucking up all the resources available. The city is also struggling with a surge in tuberculosis cases as illegals are spreading this long ago contained disease.

In New York last year, a $2.1 billion state fund paying unemployment and stimulus benefits to illegals was exhausted in three months, according to The Heritage Foundation.

NYC mayor Adams, is finally awake and is appealing to suspend the “right to shelter” law as hundreds of thousands of migrants are flooding into the Big Apple. He is proposing to limit shelter stays for migrant families to 60 days. Hotel rooms in the city are overflowing with migrants making availability difficult for visitors to the city.

Mayor Adams is making plans to start shipping these migrants to other New York suburbs. That doesn’t sit well with these communities. Once again, NIMBY. New York is now passing out flyers to discourage illegals from heading their way.

Many border cities are in crisis mode. A small Texas town, Eagle Pass, of 30,000 people saw over 8,000 migrants cross into the city within 4 days.

El Paso, Texas is also at a breaking point as 2,000 illegals enter each day. This is not sustainable for these cities.

It has been confirmed by several sources that Mexican cartels are orchestrating mass migration to overwhelm the borders. Cartels are now inside the U.S. forming gangs and sniper nests and are planning to take out Americans.

Denver, another sanctuary city is getting more than they bargained for also. Since December, there has been an influx of 12,000 illegal immigrants. The mayor of Denver stated, when it became a sanctuary city, “Denver is sending a clear and resolute message to our community that we stand with the immigrant and refugee communities and are committed to remaining a city that is safe and welcoming for all.” Officials said the city is spending approximately $800-$1,000 per week per migrant. Now Denver is begging Texas border towns to divert illegal immigrants away from their sanctuary city. Once again NIMBY. Being a sanctuary city sounds noble and compassionate but once again “be careful what you ask for.”

Colorado is no longer requiring legal U.S. residency to obtain state and local government benefits. Who wouldn’t take that deal? No wonder many illegals are heading to this sanctuary city and state.

Border cities and states are hit even harder but not because of their policies but because of their geographic location. Biden’s open door policies have made the problems almost unbearable.

A special committee in Tennessee determined that the state spend an extra $3.9 million per year to educate unaccompanied alien children in public schools and $240,000 to provide health care.

Crimes committed by illegal immigrants had been declining for years until the Biden open door policy was enacted. Since then numbers have skyrocketed for every category of crime.

This policy is unsustainable for all of us. Taxpayers are footing these bills and U.S. citizens will suffer because there are not enough resources to continue these policies.
