He Is Not Here

Joyce Krawiec serves in the North Carolina Senate. She represents Davie County and Forsyth County, NC. Christian, wife, mother, small business owner, and conservative.

I had this week’s column all ready. It was an update on Legislative Happenings and a list of bills I have introduced. But the Sunday morning service, at my church, changed my mind. I’ll save the other for another day.

We are about to enter a most precious time of the year for believers and all followers of Christ, Easter. Christians everywhere in the world will be gathering and celebrating the death and resurrection of our Savior. These are events that shape our history and remind us of the supreme love that God has for us. So much so, that he gave his only begotten son to die and suffer for us to have eternal life. This is a sacrifice representing our victory over sin and death. We are told by Jesus that “whosoever believeth in me, shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

You may remember from the story that Jesus was betrayed by Peter. You also may remember that only John and Mary were present at the Crucifixion. Why was that? Perhaps, it was self-preservation. They were protecting themselves from being captured and punished.

Many of us follow this same path. We are afraid of being punished and rejected for our beliefs. This is not a time for cowardice and today’s culture calls for boldness.

We live in a strange new world where right is wrong and wrong is right. I never thought I would see the day in which we would see so many things that are so wrong and so few speaking out against evil and deception.

It previously was called political correctness. Now it’s referred to as “Wokeness” and it’s a PHD compared to political correctness. We all know the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. This new “Woke” culture is definitely on that road.

We have seen a concerted effort to silence those with whom some disagree. Powerful forces in the woke media, have worked together with those in positions of power, in our government and in bureaucracy, to shut down anyone who opposed the “Woke” ideas.

Speakers are shouted down on campuses around the country if they dare to question this culture. Only those who have a left-wing agenda are allowed to speak out publicly without interference.

This week, we saw a video surface from our local community that was so wrong. A drag queen (we all know what that means) was filmed at Forsyth Tech doing a lap dance on a high school student. It was a disgusting scene.

I received a letter from the President of Forsyth Tech explaining the incident. She stated, “The activities organized by the student club for their Pride Fest event included a drag performance. Neither Forsyth Tech nor WS/FCS staff were aware this portion of the event would include audience participation, which, in this instance, involved a high school student, nor would we have allowed the interaction depicted in the video to take place.”

No where, in the Presidents’ remarks, did she mention what educational purpose this event had and why it was being held. She did mention Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Since we’re entering the Easter holiday season, what do you think the answer would have been if the Christian students had asked to portray the Crucifixion and Resurrection on campus? I’m betting there would have been a resounding rejection of such an event. Of course, they would have used the old slogan, “separation of church and state.”

This separation has gone way too far. We haven’t just separated the two. We’ve allowed the state to stay put while depriving the church of any presence whatsoever.

I’d like to see the students try to depict the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection next year. I won’t hold my breath until it happens.

In my title, I said ‘He’s not Here.” Oh, but He is. He is right here and He is Alive. And I feel certain that His heart is broken at the new “Woke” world we have today.
