We have spent billions of dollars exploring space trying to find intelligent life on other planets. I’m wondering about intelligent life here on earth.

How can a society who has invented the the internet, put men on the moon, and discovered medical breakthroughs beyond comprehension come up with such crazy ideas.

There has been a war raging for quite some time in this country but recently it is on steroids. This war is an attack on our culture and the principles that we hold dear. We must fight back against this assault to preserve our character and history.

The biggest threat in this war is the attack on our children through the curriculums that some schools are following. It may not be in your particular school yet, but could be coming soon to a school near you.

Children are never too young to learn to hate America, in the eyes of the left. Now even first graders must start learning the evils of America before they come to believe that our country is a special place that has always been a beacon to the world.

We have been talking and learning about Critical Race Theory in schools and the harm it is causing some children. Now the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System is adopting a curriculum that will teach first grade kids about the evils behind Thanksgiving and Independence Day. Ed First NC  just did an in depth report on the CMS 1st grade Social Studies curriculum.

For centuries children have learned about Thanksgiving through reenactments of the Pilgrims arrival and giving thanks for the bountiful harvest and the settlement in their new home. Now they must learn that Thanksgiving has been misrepresented in historical texts. The arrival of Europeans actually brought great harm to the Native Americans by bringing disease and war. Forget the history of the meal being shared while Thanks was being given, that’s just history.

Teachers will be using the lessons of holidays based on a New York Times Article titled, “Everything You Learned about Thanksgiving is Wrong.” The article focuses on so-called “social justice” and claims that the pilgrims came to colonize Plymouth and “make money” and to establish a religious theocracy.

These first grade students at CMS will be encouraged to denounce Fourth of July because of the evils of slavery. This is the day our country declared independence from the British and became an independent nation. But we must not let students learn about that. They may get the impression America really is a good place.

The curriculum also warns about celebrating Columbus Day. It might offend some native Americans who had ancestors killed back in 1492.

Apparently, leftists will stop at nothing to destroy history and the culture, values and traditions that are so important to preserve. There is no end to what they will do to destroy the heritage of America.

Parents, you can no longer send your children to school and assume that they will be taught history accurately. You can no longer assume that your children will be taught the traditions and culture that you were taught for generations before you. You must be vigilant and watch what your children are learning. It’s crucial that you take an active role in monitoring the curriculum.

Some teachers are upset with this curriculum in CMS and are speaking out. Parents are outraged. I pray it doesn’t find its way to WSFCS public schools.

These are the guidelines that teachers are instructed to follow:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Point out to students that the history behind some nationally recognized holidays are mentioned with objections or have a difficult history at their root.

• Columbus Day, named after Christopher Columbus, is controversial because of his treatment of Native Americans.

• Some states have recognized holidays attributed to Native Americans. For example, California and South Dakota recognize Native American Day.

• The history of Thanksgiving is commonly misrepresented in historical texts. The arrival of Europeans greatly harmed Native Americans because of disease and war. Also, the origins of the first Thanksgiving are not originally known, as well as how Europeans and Native Americans ended up sharing a meal together. Further information regarding Thanksgiving  can be found in the Teacher article here.

  •
  • The National Holiday of Independence Day, or Fourth of July, is marked by difficult history as leaders in the colonies were advocating for freedom, but kept the institution of slavery in place. The institution of slavery took freedom away from Africans and African Americans, as well as subjected them to abusive and oppressive living conditions that result in great emotional physical  and physical and death.

It amazes me that hundreds of years of history are declared illegitimate because a few education bureaucrats say so. There are some very ugly parts of our history and it should be taught accurately. It doesn’t need to be sugar coated but it doesn’t need to always denigrate America.
