I hope that you and your families had a wonderful Easter as we celebrated the death and resurrection of our Savior. For Christians, this is the holiest of days according to our faith. It signifies the greatest love story ever told and reminds us that “God so loved the World, He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Christ came to earth in the flesh and suffered and died for our sins. On the third day, He rose from the dead. Because of this great love story, we are renewed and redeemed. The Lord sacrificed his son so that we may have an ever-lasting life.
I really do not quite know what to say about President Biden issuing a proclamation declaring Easter Sunday as “Transgender Day of Visibility”. Surely someone within the administration should have seen the insult to Christians all over the world. Easter has been a traditional Christian religious holiday for thousands of years. Transgender Day of Visibility began in 2009. Surely, this should mean something.
The Proclamation read as follows: “NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility.”
Since the Biden administration came into office, the president has made LGBT activism a policy priority. He has boasted that he appointed transgender leaders to his administration, and he also lifted the ban on transgender Americans openly serving in the military.
I understand the President’s commitment to the LGBT priorities, but this proclamation seems over the top. Where is his commitment to his own Christian faith and why not respect the faith of millions of Americans? Easter should not have been the time to issue such a proclamation.
The White House has honored many Easter traditions through the years, including the military family art initiative and the annual Easter Egg Roll.
This year to add insult to injury, the White House has decided that the traditional “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event will have some changes. In the past, children of the National Guard were invited to send in egg designs for the celebration. But this year, children are banned from submitting religious Easter egg designs.
A notice from the White House stated that Easter egg submissions “must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.” This is truly an insult since the reason for Easter is the foundation of the Christian faith.
Can you imagine the President issuing a proclamation declaring “National Pork Day” during the celebration of Ramadan? No, me neither. That would be completely insensitive and an insult to all those of the Muslim faith. He would never consider doing that, but Christians are always fair game.
The White House excuse will be that ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’ is a fixed holiday and always falls on March 31. The President should not have issued a proclamation, especially since it came on Easter Sunday, the holiest of Christian holidays. No President has ever recognized it until President Biden did two years ago. He may not have picked the date, but he did decide to officially recognize it.
This decision is almost hard to believe. When I first heard it, my thoughts were, “this is too far even for this administration.” But there it was for the world to see.
I cannot imagine, even this administration, could be so insulting and insensitive to millions of Christians. I do hope these Christians remember it when November comes around.
