Target, one of the biggest retailers in the country, has been under fire recently and they are paying a price. Target stock has lost more than $10 Billion in 10 days.
The blowback began when Target released its 2023 Pride Season Collection. The company has long been a supporter of the LGBTQ community, but many think this year they went too far.
They set up large displays in prominent store locations. Many say much of the merchandise was promoted to young children and some of the wording was inappropriate for that market. Some of these messages were on Onesies, for our tiny babies to wear.
After the blowback started, Target tried to backtrack. Some of the items were removed from some stores, especially those in the South. But once something like that has been seen, it’s hard to unsee it. One would think they would have learned something from the Bud Light fiasco, but apparently they did not.
First of all, this will absolutely not affect me at all. I stopped shopping at Target in 2004 when they threw out the red kettles from collecting at their facilities. The Salvation Army, who has been serving the poor since 1897, has one of the best records around for taking care of the poor. Their administration rates are low enabling most of all gifts to go to charitable activities. No mega millions are paid to their CEOs, as is the case for many charitable organizations.
In 2014, Target endorsed marriage equality and announced that it was ending its policy of dividing products, like toys, by gender. Then Target further annoyed shoppers by announcing that all bathrooms would be open to all genders in 2016. After that backlash, Target installed individual bathrooms in somewhat of an Oops moment.
That’s not the end of the story. There is growing anger over Target’s partnership with a transgender man in Britain who has a brand Abprallen, which encourages Satanism. This brand is sold in Target’s stores.
The designer, Erik Carnell, models a tee shirt with the phrase, ‘Satan respects pronouns.’ He’s wearing no pants and dons BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism) style horns. Other products display slogans like, ‘Young, Queer and Willing’ and ‘burn down the cis-tem.’ Additional catchy phrases are, ‘too queer for here’ and ‘cure transphobia, not trans people.’
The designer released a statement, “These have already got the transphobes infuriated with me and I feel like quite the celebrity to think that they believe this is all some big conspiracy and I have any power to brainwash anyone when I’m just some guy drawing pictures.”
One of the most controversial products in Target’s new Pride Collection is a “tuck-friendly bathing suit. The “tuck friendly” and “extra crotch coverage” helps biological males hide their genitals. Some appear to be designed for children.
Target is like Rodney Dangerfield, “they just can’t get no respect.” After making the decision to backtrack, their friends have now turned on them.
A gay rights activist group, “Gays Against Groomers”, put out a statement regarding Target saying “We urge you to take your business elsewhere. They are indoctrinating and grooming them with LGBTQ ideology. It is highly inappropriate and disturbing. We hope there are enough parents out there that understand how wrong this is and show them that this garbage will not sell. The only thing these people understand is money. Target deserves the Bud Light treatment. We will work to put pressure on them.”
These “woke” far left corporations should learn at some point. Parents can be savage when it comes to protecting our young. We just want you to stick to your job that you are created to do. Provide a product that we can purchase because it suits our needs. If you do that, your shareholders will be rewarded with a hefty profit and everyone wins. We don’t want you trying to tell us how to raise our children nor do we want you to try to indoctrinate them.
